Consequently, this is the same route which was used by the early expedition teams to climb Everest from Nepal by Sir Edmund Hilary from New Zealand and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa from Nepal, the first successful climbers of Mount Everest went through this trail to climb Mount Everest. Jiri Everest Base Camp Trekking begins with a drive from Kathmandu to Jiri, about 187 km north-east of Kathmandu. We then trek to Bhandar followed by a downhill walk into the forests crossing a few streams and walk pass the small settlements of Dokharpa and Baranda. The trail then ascends further to Sete and up to Lamjura La through forests of pine, magnolia, maple, birch and rhododendrons. The trail reaches Junbesi, where the mesmerizing views of Himalayas appear before our eyes. The path ascends to Ringmo, crosses the Trakshindo La pass and drops through terraced fields to Nuntala. From Nuntala, the trail descends down the trail to Dudh Koshi River and moves along the river towards Khumbu and steeply ascends to Bupsa.
